The Path That Led Us Here

Vivian and Nick first met in college at Westfield State University back in 2016. One night, Nick and his friends hosted a party, and while most guests were dancing and mingling, Vivian’s attention went straight to his adorable Pitbull, Harley. Instead of joining the crowd, she spent the entire time showering him with affection and belly rubs. Luckily for Nick, Harley turned out to be the perfect wingman, guiding him straight to Vivian. Nick eventually came over to introduce himself, and Harley, of course. From the moment he saw her, his immediate thought was, “She’s hot.” (He still remembers to this day exactly what she was wearing that night—a light blue tank top with white shorts.) Nothing much happened that night, but the next day Nick sent Vivian a message, and that small exchange began a friendship that would last for years.

Life soon took them in different directions. Vivian transferred to the University of Connecticut after her freshman year, and Nick traveled to California after graduating. Nick and Vivian looked for chances to see each other during those years, but the timing was never quite right. Still, they never lost touch. It was as if an invisible string was quietly tugging at them, keeping their connection alive, until in 2022, the moment finally came.

On May 5, 2022, they went on their first date at Redstone American Grill. Nick will never forget the moment Vivian walked in. It was as if everything clicked into place. They locked eyes, and he smiled the biggest smile. That night, they spent hours laughing and in deep conversation until the restaurant closed, skipping the small talk and diving into what really mattered in their hearts — their values, dreams, and hopes for love. It didn’t feel like a first date; from the very start, it was clear they were meant to be.

From that day forward, Vivian and Nick were inseparable. They spent nearly every day together, squeezing in sleepovers whenever their schedules allowed. Nick introduced Vivian to all kinds of wine, fishing, golfing, and countless new restaurants. People must have thought they were crazy for moving so fast, but to them, it felt right. There was no point in waiting when they knew what they wanted.

On May 29, 2022, Nick asked Vivian to be his girlfriend, making it official. Just a few weeks later, in June, their excitement for the future carried them straight into house hunting. By July 1, they had found the perfect place to call their first home together and officially moved in. Some of their sweetest memories are from those early days, hanging out and falling asleep on the floor of their empty home, talking late into the night about the life and memories they would create together. They spent long hours painting the bedroom walls, assembling furniture together (mostly Nick, while Vivian “supervised” with a glass of red wine in hand), and slowly turned that house into a home filled with laughter, dancing in the kitchen, movie nights, playful pranks, chasing each other around the house, and lazy mornings spent wrapped up together.

With the work done and their home finally coming together, something still felt missing for Vivian. It was her beloved soul dog, Colby. She wanted him to be part of this new chapter, and when he finally moved in, Nick welcomed him with open arms, loving him as his own. With Colby by their side, their home finally felt complete.

Since then, they have shared so many adventures, traveling to Jamaica, China, St. John, California, Hawai‘i, and beyond. But no matter where they go, their favorite place has always been by each other’s side.

On September 7, 2024, Nick planned the most thoughtful and unforgettable proposal for Vivian. With the help of her best friend, Julianna, he surprised Vivian with a beautiful picnic. Surrounded by love, laughter, and so much joy, Nick went down on one knee and asked Vivian to spend forever with him. Overwhelmed with happiness, she said yes! Afterwards, they celebrated with close friends and family, the perfect beginning to this next chapter.

Nick and Vivian’s story is one of friendship, timing, and a love that grew stronger with every season of life. What started as a serendipitous encounter turned into an unshakable bond, one that was always meant to be. From that first spark to this moment, every step has led them here.

Now, they are ready to begin the rest of their forever, surrounded by the people who mean the most to them.
